讲座题目：A Journey on SDN, NFV, and Cloud

报告摘要：Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) technologies are dramatically changing the traditional telecommunication industry. From the perspective of a network architect who has first-hand experience working for both service provider as well as system vendor since the beginning of this major industrial shift, the presenter will introduce the background, motivation, and current status of SDN and NFV. In addition, an interesting open source project: CORD (Central Office Re-architected as Datacenter), which is an important use case of SDN, NFV, and Cloud, will be introduced.
Cheng (Ian) Liugot his bachelor degree from Peking Univ. in 2008, and Ph.D. degree from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2013, both in the Electrical and Computer Engineering field. After he graduated in 2013, he joined AT&T Labs, working in the Domain 2.0 organization, which focus on SDN and NFV related R&D. He recently joined FutureWei Technologies, the R&D branch of Huawei in USA, working on SDN, NFV, and Cloud related technologies and applications.
He has published over 60 journal papers and conference proceedings (results in over 800 citations worldwide), authored 1 book chapter, and holds more than 10 US patents and patent applications. He is an active reviewer and TPC member of several prestigious journal papers and international conferences in the telecommunication area. He was the recipient of the Bor-Uei Chen Memorial Scholarship Award from the Photonics Society of Chinese-Americans in 2013, and AT&T Domain 2.0 VP Excellent Award in 2015.
